At John's one month appointment on April 11th, he weighed 7 lbs. He is now 20 ½ inches in length with a head circumference of 35 cm. John thrilled us by rolling over from his stomach to his back on Saturday, April 20th! He is busy practicing his vowel sounds also. John takes a good afternoon nap on most days and is sleeping better at night in his crib (rather than with mom and dad). John is fighting diaper rash right now, so hopefully the zinc oxide (actually a brand called Butt Paste!) will work for him. Overall, John is doing well!

At Mary's one month appointment on April 11th, she weighed 6 lbs. 8 oz. She is now 20 1/4 inches in length with a head circumference of 35 cm. Mary is busy trying to smile at us. She is awake for 2 to 3 hours at a time, especially after the morning feeding before lunch. She is also practicing her long i sounds as she talks to us. Mary is having lots of gas, so she is not a happy camper right now. She also tends to spit up (no matter how long we try burping her!) Overall, she is doing very well.

John is two months old already! At his doctor's appointment on May 15th, he weighed in at 9 lbs. 12 oz. He is 22 1/4 inches long with a head circumference of 38 cm. This appointment was shot day, but he did pretty well. John came home and slept just about all afternoon and evening. I guess it wore him out! John is talking a lot more working on his "ah" and "i" sounds. John is thrilling us with smiles which seem to come right after he wakes up and when we change his diaper. John is a wonderful baby boy!

Mary is two months old already! She weighed in at 9 lbs. at the doctor's office on May 15th. She is now 21 1/4 inches long with a head circumference of 37.5 cm. This was not a fun appointment as she got 3 shots. Actually, she did very well and did not fuss too much the rest of the day. Mary smiles all the time now, which is just wonderful! She has a lot to "talk" about and makes us all laugh and smile. She is still spitting up quite a bit but at least she can wear more of her clothes! Mary is a true joy to us!

Look at how much John is growing! At his doctor's appointment on July 15th, he weighed in at 15 lbs. 6 oz. He is 25 1/2 inches long with a head circumference of 41.5 cm. John is talking, smiling, and laughing up a storm. He screeches when he is really happy, which is really funny to hear. On July 6th, John started cereal. He didn't like it the first couple of days, but now, he gets all excited when we put him in the high chair. He takes about 4 tablespoons of cereal a night. John is desperately trying to flip from his back to his stomach, so he ends up in this weird position where his head is arched back and he is laying on his side. One morning we are going to find him on his tummy! John has decided that sleeping is NO fun, so we are staying up a bit later than we'd like. His "normal" bedtime is between 9-11:30 p.m. Then he gets up between 4-6 a.m. And to think that one day we are going to miss this! John really is a great baby!

We can't believe Mary is four months old already! She weighed in at 12 lbs. 9 oz. at the doctor's office on July 15th. She is now 24 1/4 inches long with a head circumference of 40.8 cm. Mary has a lot to say these days in between all of her smiles. She likes to be bounced on Mommy's knee while I sing "Yankee Doodle." Mary does some laughing too, but she prefers to get all excited by opening her mouth and panting. It is SO funny when she does that. Mary started cereal on July 6th, and does well opening her mouth when the spoon is coming her way. She takes between 2 to 3 tablespoons of cereal a night. Luckily, she doesn't spit up the cereal the same way she does the formula. Mary really likes Winnie the Pooh and sleeps with one every night. She talks to the Pooh on her crib border whenever she is going to sleep or waking up. Mary is so much fun to be around and we just love her to pieces.

John is still learning to crawl. He can spin around very well and can go backwards, but how to move forwards still eludes him. This makes him very mad especially when Mary moves in and grabs a toy he has his eye on. He has recently counteracted this by screaming at Mary when she does this and this of course hurts Mary's feelings. When she is not taking his things, they play together very well. John got his first tooth just before Thanksgiving.

Mary is on the go. She is an excellent crawler and can pull herself up to standing with the help of any stable object in the room. She is cruising along the furniture and has recently mastered the skill of getting back down to the floor under her own control. Of course all this freedom has her really excited and makes life difficult when trying to put her down for a nap. It is at this point she shows off the stubbornness that she gets from her mother.

John is walking, although he is still very unsteady and has a few bruises to prove it. He is going through some serious separation anxiety in which he wakes up around 4:00 am to check and see if we are still around. This has been improving slightly over the past few days. John wants to feed himself now and enjoys small pieces of peaches, apples, macaroni and cheese, and Cheerios. He loves to make messes and requires a good scrubbing after each meal. John now has 7 teeth and weighs in at ~24 pounds.

Mary is an expert at walking now. She started around ten months and has never looked back. Her favorite past time is doing circuits through the den, kitchen and dining room. She likes to eat Cheerios and would prefer an all Cheerios diet. It has been difficult at times to get her to eat anything else. She also has decided that she does not want cereal first thing in the morning and opts to play for a while. She is starting to say "Hi" and will point to things she wants. Mary has 2 teeth and weighs in at ~19 pounds.

Happy Birthday John! John enjoys his first cake a little too much. The mess only got worse after this picture.

Happy Birthday Mary! Mary wasn't really in the mood for cake. She was very tired and wanted to go to bed.

John is all boy. He was up to 27 pounds at his last checkup (June 5). He has started learning to climb whether it be chairs, the sofa, the stairs or the kitchen table he is eager to climb up. His only problem is that he hasn't figured out how to get down. He will sit and cry out from his new perch until we come and get him down.

Mary remains a dainty little girl despite eating like a horse at times. She was 21 pounds on her June 5th checkup. She is the explorer and love to climb everything. She can scale up the stairs with no problem and can back her way down them with just as much ease. She has a few bruises on her legs from all this climbing, but that doesn't slow her down at all.

Now that their personalities are really developing, John has taken the role of the dominant child. He is the one who looks for new things to do and try while Mary watches him before trying it herself. This new found independence has also started the terrible twos early. He is constantly testing his limits. In general he plays well with Mary, but gets upset when she ignores him and on occasion he tries to bite her. The good news is that he has weaned himself from the pacifier. It was a tough few nights but he no longer wants his pacifier at all. John now has 14 teeth and will have 16 very soon. Our biggest problem now is finding shoes that fit him comfortably because he has a very wide foot.

Mary is the cautious explorer and lets John take the lead, although when it comes to climbing things she doesn't wait for him. She loves to read her books and has started truly playing with her toys and not just chewing them. She will put her Dora and Boots dolls on her walker and take them for a walk as well as pretend play with her Noah's Ark toy. She plays well with John, but also will play by herself which upsets John at times. Mary now has 7 teeth. Mary really likes her shoes (a typical girl I guess) and is always checking with us to see if it is time to put on her shoes by saying "shoos?". Just incase we forgot that it's shoe time I reckon.
